“Don’t just dress up, Look Gowntastic!”
A motto by Julie Glasnapp and Kathy Chisman, two chemical engineer graduates of Youngstown State University. These two talented and determined gals desired to create their own business. Something enjoyable and beneficial to the city of Columbus, and BAM!! Gowntastic was born on Valentine’s Day, 2014, in Clintonville, OH. This unique all occasion dress boutique was designed to serve Columbus with detailed and personal customer service, affordable dresses, from simple to full beaded formal wear for pageantries, military balls, homecomings and proms.
Julie and Kathy have created this petite shop’s atmosphere to be as inviting and relaxing as a spa. Not only does this store offer personal assistant with your dress shopping experience, they also stock shoes and jewelry for browsing and purchasing.
One of the most creative ways Gowntastic gives back to the community is through high school and college internships. The students learn a lot more than just fashion styles, while receiving school credits. They are introduced to marketing, graphics design, social media relations, customer service and other How-to run a business strategies.
Irish Eyes Photography had an incredible opportunity to showcase a number of their new dresses for the 2018 prom season. We picked five gals and one guy from area high schools to be models. When the girls walked into the boutique, after receiving complimentary beautification by Makeyou614, they were in complete awe of the plethora of gorgeous gowns presented to them to pose in front of the camera.
Some of our models like Shelby, in the 2nd group photo, wore a periwinkle gown with a side slit and strappy back by Primavera Couture. She also showcased a two-piece jersey crop top with cold shoulder sleeves, in her solo picture above. The skirt was a metallic harlequin fabric with beaded waistband. Michalah, in the middle of the group, clothed herself in a stunning sequined Rachel Allan gown with cap sleeves, that accentuated her height and size perfectly. Meliah styled a twin Primavera Couture dress as Shelby, in the blush color, then a beautiful red Ellie Wilde long fitted gown. Alania and Ashlee, both adorn two spectacular dresses by MacDuggal, with slits, cutouts and subtle colors to compliment their skin tones.
A few of the parents that attended the mini session spoke in amazement of the affordable prices for such elegant array of gowns. I, myself, as a parent of a high schooler and also one of the photographers, was shocked and pleasurably pleased by the gowns and the prices.
I had the greatest experience as a customer to shop for 2018 prom dresses at Gowntastic with my daughter, Ashlee, and I have to say, the owners and their staff are very knowledgeable, courteous and a blast. It's always a chore to shop for expensive items for high school events and a picky girl to boot. Well, Gowntastic services in assisting Ashlee to the right fit, style, and color, that were prefect for her, was the best dream come true and a lot less tedious job than first thought. Thank you Gowntastic for your sweet disposition, relaxing atmosphere, fun conversations and making my little girl beautiful, classy, and fabulous for her first prom.
Although the 2018 prom season is coming to an end, Gowntastic is still the place to go for other formal occasion wear. They will be available with a new line of dresses for your 2018 homecoming style this summer starting in late July.
