For those of you who know me (Erin), you have heard of my daughter Rosalynn. For those of you who are new, never hired me, are not personal friends with me, then let me fill you in. Rosalynn was my first daughter. She was the first addition to our family. However, we had to say hello and goodbye to her in the same day. Rosalynn was stillborn at 35 weeks gestation. That was 8 yrs ago this April 20th. She is the reason I started my photography business. Shortly after her passing, my husband bought me a camera to use as an outlet for my grief. That is the SHORT story! If you would like to read the full story, you can check it out on my personal blog journeyoflifeandluv.blogspot.com but warning, bring tissues!!!
Felecia also has suffered EXTREME loss. Multiple first trimester miscarriages, and a 16 week loss.
We both have used our experiences in the baby loss community to give back. Felecia is the area coordinator for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and I help photograph perinatal hospice families for Sufficient Grace Ministries, and I help train their bereavement photographers. So between the 2 of us, we see and helped TONS of baby loss families. But we want to do ONE MORE THING. We want to bless 2 women a month with a Rainbow Baby Session.
Rainbow baby. What is a rainbow baby?
The Definition of a Rainbow Baby is:
"The understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn't mean the storm never happened, the family is not still dealing with the aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover, but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy, and hope."
Both Felecia and I have our rainbow babies:-) Avaleen was my first rainbow baby after Rosalynn.
She was my light in the darkness, my beautiful rainbow baby!! (this was 6.5 yrs ago, lol my photography skills have come a LONG way!!)

Phillippa was my second rainbow baby. I suffered 2 early miscarriages between Ava and Pippa. This is a beautiful photo taken by the very talented Stephanie from Stephanie's Creations Photography. Felecia and I made the rainbow wreath, which we keep in our studio.

Conner is Felecia's little rainbow boy!! We did this image for his pregnancy announcement

and this is his stunning rainbow image. He is inside of Felecia's belly cast!

So you are probably wondering where all this is going. Well, we want to offer 1 free rainbow maternity and 1 free rainbow newborn session a month. We will take nominations that can be submitted through this form:
Nominations are open. Then Felecia and I will go through the stories and choose 2 women. One for a free maternity rainbow session, and one for a free newborn rainbow session. We will only require a model release so we can share the photos and story on our blog and share the hope that comes with a rainbow baby. then we will photograph one rainbow theme set up for each session.. These will be FULL sessions, so they will not be limited to just the rainbow theme. We will honor the winners' requests for themes and locations and colors, with just the one rainbow theme photo from their session.
We have this BEAUTIFUL rainbow dress to incorporate into the maternity session. Thanks to Chicaboo maternity dresses.

I personally cannot WAIT to take part in these sessions. Each rainbow baby is such a piece of hope and light on this earth!!
Here are just a few cuties to tide you over before our first official Rainbow Baby Project shoot!!

The nominations are now open for the month of February for photographing the session in march. Please nominate moms who are currently 26-32 weeks (give or take a week or 2) pregnant and moms who are due between Feb 20th and March 20th (give or take a few days). We will choose the winners on Feb 16th.
