Meet Elliot!
Mr. Elliot is quite the dapper young man, when his mom, Heather and I met for his newborn session, she was very certain what style she wanted for his newborn pictures. Vintage boy, and hipster props were requested.
Thankfully, I have a plethora of unique newborn boy props for such an occasion. I am a total sucker for thick rimmed glasses, and slouch caps. When our session was completed, Heather told me she was planning his cake smash in March of 2017, and I knew to expect something fun! Elliot's mom is stylish and knows where to get some of the cutest, hipster styles for boys.
When we set up his appointment, She told me she only wanted black and white for his cake smash portion, and the rest of the session to be very minimal. Now, I have only done very colorful cake smashes in the past, so this was a bit of a new, exciting challenge for me. First, I enlisted the help of my dear friend, Traci Schleppi of Sweet Fantasy Cake Co. She had a great simple idea for his cake. I was able to plan a very simple, yet striking set up for Elliot.
When Elliot and his family arrived, I will admit, I was a tad nervous because I have never done such a simple cake smash before. Once Heather saw the cake, I knew I had hit a home run. We chose to keep it about Elliot, and only incorporate a few black balloons, and let Elliot do his thing. He was a little unsure at first, but many verses of the name game and Twinkle Twinkle little star got Elliot to open up and give me some great shots.
