We recently started our Summer Mini Series, and they have included beautifully designed sets. I being the mom of 3 boys kept picking out girly set ups and Erin said "What about the boys!? We should do a fishing mini!". Well, when I told a few colleagues that we were doing this, their reply was, "A fishing mini is a fishing mini. What can you do different?" Well, for starters, I had a direct connection with some REALLY cool, old vintage fishing gear from my grandfather and father. Plus, Erin's neighbor has a killer backyard and pond.
Of course, being who we are, it can't just be a simple set up, fishing off the bank. Erin bravely got into a kayak to shoot from the water! It gave an amazing perspective to the fishing shots, and in my opinion, better action shots. Me, the coward, kept myself on dry land and let the kids play with worms and vintage bobbers.
I had a light bulb moment, and begged my husband to bring our boys. My two oldest flat out refused to touch the worms, but my then 8 month old thought it was great! He even tried to eat a few, but thankfully, was stopped by a quick thinking daddy! Mom Fail!
As you can see, the weather and light were just perfect, and we had an amazing time! Be sure to keep an eye out for next years summer mini series! We have some absolutely amazing ideas in store.
