Monster Birthday Cake Smash:: Columbus Ohio Child Photographer

When Kaelan's mom contacted me for his first birthday shoot, I was really excited because she already had a theme on his birthday party, and wanted to incorporate it into his shoot. MONSTERS!!! She wanted to incorporate his diaper cover and a monster cake into the shoot, but I also suggested she bring the decals she made by hand to use as part of the background. We had our consultation appointment and she showed me pictures of the outfits she was bringing so I could plan ahead the drops and props I would be using to coordinate, and when they arrived I had the sets ready to go for ease and transition. With one year olds, you never know how much time they will give you for a shoot. Some are HAMS in front of the camera and will give you an infinite amount of time for their photography session, but others will get antsy and wear out quickly, giving you maybe 45 mins TOPS to capture all of the photos. So the best plan is to have everything ready to go so you can breeze through the session and prevent melt downs:-)

Kaelan was one of those happy, pleasant babies!! However, he was ON THE MOVE. So we had to get creative on how to encourage him to sit still. We used snacks, high chairs that would make it harder for him to climb off of, and then of course CAKE!!
