The Rainbow After the Storm:: Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photographer

IF you have followed me for a while, you would know that i have a very special place in my heart for rainbow babies. What is a rainbow baby?

"Rainbow Babies" is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn't mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope."

I have 2 rainbow babies of my own!! Avaleen was after the devastating loss of my first daughter, Rosalynn, at almost 35 weeks gestation, and then Phillippa is my spunky rainbow who followed 2 miscarriages. Every baby is TRULY as miracle, but rainbow babies have that little special place in my heart. When Callie's mom, Ashley, reached out to me, and she told me her story, I was ecstatic to capture her newborn session.

The funny thing, is that I came recommended by a mutual friend. My friend Katrina sent Ashley my way and explained why I did these sessions, and how I could personally relate to her loss and would take very good care of them. I was so honored that Katrina would think of sending Ashley my way....and Katrina, I miss you DEARLY!!

Ashley brought some very meaningful items and props to incorporate into our session. During our pre-consultation she told me about her Molly Bear of Levi. What is a Molly Bear? It is an amazing weighted bear that one of my fellow baby loss moms created after her daughter, Molly, passed away. The bear is weighted to the exact weight of the baby that has been lost. The mom gets to pick something (the color, a charm, etc) to represent their angel. I have one of Rosalynn. It was such a healing item to have, and I know how much Ashley and her children cherish their Levi Bear. Bridget.....well done my friend.... I LOVE seeing these bears come through my studio!!!
